Neues vom eBook-Markt: eReader Kindle jetzt in 100 Staaten erhältlich
Amazon startete letzte Nacht den internationalen Verkauf des UMTS-Kindle. Das Gerät ist nun in 100 Staaten erhältlich. Highlight des Angebots: die Datenübertragung von Amazon-Servern ist bereits im Kaufpreis enthalten, d.h. man kann mit dem Gerät in 100 Staaten fast überall kostenlos E-Books und digitale Ausgaben von Zeitungen einkaufen und herunterladen. Der neue eReader ist zum Preis von 279 US-Dollar erhältlich (nur über Amazon) und wird bisher nur direkt aus USA verschickt. Selbst mit Versandkosten und Einfuhrumsatzsteuer liegt der Endpreis für deutsche Kunden bei circa 300 Euro – ein unschlagbarer Preis im Vergleich zu den Sony-Geräten. Zu den technischen Details: die Hardware ist nahezu identisch zum Kindle2, das eInk-Display ist 800×600 Pixel gross und bietet 16 Graustufen, womit sich auch Bilder besser darstellen lassen. Ein Speicher von 2 Gigabyte, ausreichend für ca. 1500 Bücher, ist vorhanden, kann jedoch nicht erweitert werden. Zum edlen Design: das Gerät ist weiss mit einer Rückseite aus gebürstetem Metall. Ein weiterer Vorteil für deutsche Kunden: die über den UMTS-Kindle gekauften Werke werden in US-Dollar abgerechnet, was beim derzeitigen Wechselkurs ein günstigerer Preis pro eBook bedeutet.
