Teenager sind häufig mit Gefühlsschwankungen nur so durchzogen. Der Horror aller Eltern ist ein kleines Wörtchen – die Pubertät. Einige lernen ihren Körper zum ersten Mal richtig kennen, verstehen die Wandlung des selbigen und werden innerlich mit etwas überhäuft, was sie noch nicht so ganz zu deuten wissen. Dawn ist zwar schon ein wenig weiter, als aber mit Julien ein neuer Schüler an ihre High School kommt, sind eben genau diese Schmetterlinge im Bauch wieder da. Es ist weniger sein Äußeres, was ohne jede Frage beeindruckend herüberkommt, was sie in den Bann zieht als seine Unnahbarkeit, die ihn von Anfang an interessant macht.
Man mag schnell in den Eindruck kommen, Lynn Ravens „Der Kuss des Dämons“ ist eine neue Namensänderung der Twilightsaga, wie sie derzeit zu Haufe im Umlauf sind und natürlich lassen sich auch bei ihr die Parallelen nicht leugnen. Dawn verliebt sich in Julien, der zunächst den Coolen macht und sich dann doch ein wenig öffnet. Julien ist mysteriös und selbstverständlich ein übermenschliches Wesen, das in der Folge das junge Mädchen in Lebensgefahr bringt. Sie weiß das, doch was sie nicht weiß, ist anders als bei Edward und Bella. Julien trägt dunkle Geheimnisse mit sich, die eben doch nicht so schnell ans Tageslicht gelangen, Dinge, die Dawns Liebesseifenblasen schon bald zerplatzen lassen.
