Ermittlungen in Südafrika
Linda Roloff ist eine wirklich gute Journalistin, die des Öfteren mal die Handgriffe und Tricks eines begabten Polizeiermittlers parat haben muss, denn manchmal geraten Personen wie Linda in eine Geschichte, der sie nur mit viel Energie gewachsen sind. In Tübingen findet eine Festveranstaltung zu Ehren des 80-Jährigen Marius Steyn statt. Steyn war jahrelang als Richter im Apartheid-Staat Südafrika tätig und steht im Laufe des Abends den löchernden Fragen der Journalistin Rede und Antwort. Einen Tag nach der Feier wird der Professor tot aufgefunden, Linda wird zwar nicht verdächtigt, entschließt sich trotzdem dazu, selbst zu ermitteln.
Die Spuren führen sie nach Südafrika, von wo aus ihr auch noch der Hilferuf eines alten Bekannten entgegenschneit. Alan Scott, seinerseits Jäger und immer noch ein Mann, für den Linda mehr als nur freundschaftliche Gefühle hegt, soll in der Nähe seiner Farm „Elefants Gould“ einen Mann erschossen haben. Schnell bemerken beide, dass die beiden Morde eng miteinander in Verbindung stehen. Der zweite Tote war einst Häftling in Robben Island, ein Gefängnis, in das ihn Marius Steyn hineinbrachte. Um Scotts Unschuld zu beweisen und den Mörder des Professors zu überführen begeben sich beide in große Gefahr. Alles in allem handelt es sich bei „Elefantengold“ um einen wirklich interessanten Kriminalroman, der auch mit afrikanischen Motiven und einer kleinen Liebesgeschichte aufwartet. Autor Edi Graf scheint zu wissen, über was er schreibt, denn bis auf die sozialen Umstände innerhalb der südafrikanischen Slums, gibt er sich in seiner Darstellung äußerst detailverliebt.
