Die Tote bin ich
Kriminalromane haben immer etwas Besonderes an sich. Meist ergibt sich dieses ungewöhnliche Puzzleteil, was den einzelnen von den vielen unterscheidet, erst im Verlauf des Werkes. Häufig kommt es zu ungeahnten Wendungen, es entpuppt sich jemand als der Mörder, der bereits von Anfang an der Polizei vor der Nase herumspazierte oder der entlarvte Mörder ist geschnappt und dennoch gehen seine Ritualmorde weiter. Bei „Totengleich“ von Tana French gestaltet sich das alles noch ein bisschen mysteriöser und das, obwohl jenes einzelne Besondere sich ziemlich früh im Werk zeigt.
Cassie Maddox ist eine junge Polizistin, die sich im Laufe der noch jungen Karriere bereits des Öfteren auszeichnen konnte. Sie wird zu einem Mord in ein entferntes Cottage, abseits von Dublin gerufen. Scheint es sich anfänglich noch um einen gewöhnlichen Mord, in dem die Leiche bereits gefunden ist und man eben nicht noch lange nach einer Vermissten suchen muss, zu handeln, stellt sich in der Folge relativ schnell heraus, dass es Cassies schwerster Fall werden soll. Sie nähert sich der Toten, einer jungen Frau und desto näher sie sich der Leiche nähert, umso mehr entwickeln sich die Fragen in ihrem Kopf. Wer ist die Tote? Was ist mit ihr geschehen und warum hat man sie hier, fern der gewöhnlichen Zivilisation abgelegt? Es kommt noch eine Frage dazu, als Cassie sich der Toten vollkommen genähert hat und erkennen muss, dass sie wie in einem Spiegel in ihr Ebenbild schaut.
