Der französische Autor Marc Levy verbrachte viele Jahre in San Francisco, und leitete u.a. ein Architekturbüro in Frankreich. Zur Zeit lebt er mit seiner Lebensgefährtin und dem gemeinsamen Sohn in London als freier Schriftsteller.
Levy ist der Sohn eines Verlegers, für und über den er das Buch Kinder der Hoffnung (OT: Les enfants de la liberté, 2007) schrieb. Levys Vater Raymond gehörte im Zweiten Weltkrieg einer im Untergrund agierenden Widerstandsbewegung an, die sich gegen die deutsche Besatzung zur Wehr setzte. Raymond und sein Bruder Claude lebten damals jeden Tag mit der Angst, wie viele ihrer Kameraden aufzufliegen und ihr Engagement mit dem Tod zu bezahlen. Doch der Kampf war es ihnen wert. Kinder der Hoffnung ist sein in Frankreich bisher erfolgreichstes Werk. Marc Levy erfuhr selbst erst spät von der Vergangenheit seines Vaters.
Seinen ersten Roman Solange du da bist (Et si c´était vrai…) schrieb er 1998 für seinen Sohn. Das Buch wurde ein Riesenerfolg und unter gleichem Namen verfilmt. Es folgten weitere Liebesromane, mit denen Levy sich in der Zwischenzeit einen riesigen -vor allem weiblichen- Fankreis aufgebaut hat. In den Belletristik-Bestsellerlisten steht Levy oftmals ganz oben. Eine Auswahl seiner Titel: Wenn wir zusammen sind (Mes amis mes amours, 2008), Wo bist du? (Où es-tu?, 2006), Zurück zu dir (Vous revoir, 2007, alle bei Droemer Knaur) und All die ungesagten Worte (Toutes ces choses qu´on ne c´est pas dites, 2008) den Titel haben wir bereits hier vorgestellt (auch als eBook erhältlich).
